Despite the onset of the pandemic and the subsequent lockdowns, ABG Systems did not miss an opportunity to make major investments and introduce numerous changes to the company. For example, it was decided to move the company to a brand new, much larger office building at a different location, suitable to cope with the unexpected increase in production. It has thus gained space for new offices, setting up a modern showroom as well as very large production areas to meet the needs of the growing company. ABG Systems has also made the concerted effort in expanding its personnel, hiring professionals who have a proven track record. This has given the organization an invaluable workforce that has a strong background customer service and technical operations. Clara, a recently hired employee, recalls the challenges that she had initially faced at ABG Systems.

Clara, how did you get to ABG Systems and what is your role in the company?

ABG Systems was looking to hire a person who could take care of both customers and suppliers as well as support the various offices in logical and organizational activities. After a few interviews, I learned that I was the ideal candidate for this position. Today, I am an operational receptionist and I follow the organizational management of the new headquarters. My job requires me to carry out support activities to all the offices and the different departments within the company.

What are your initial impressions of the work environment and of the company?

ABG’s new headquarters is very spacious and the reception desk is very important in the company’s day-to-day functions. I am very happy to work here, supporting the different offices and the various tasks that involve each and every department.

What do you think was the key skill that you had shown in your interviews that led to your hiring?

I am a dynamic and outgoing person, qualities that are very important to interact with our customers. I am the person who listens to our customers on the phone and the first person to welcome and greet our visitors. During my studies, I spent a year in the United States, perfecting my English skills. I now have excellent command of the English language. ABG is an international company and it is essential to be able to communicate with anyone who contacts us without any problems.

How were you greeted by your new colleagues? How do you feel here?

ABG is a really young and dynamic company. The team consists of highly trained and experienced professionals. Each member is collegial, caring, and show great enthusiasm at work every day. At ABG, you immediately feel like you are part of the family, working collaboratively and trying to excel every day. Although I am alone at the receptionist desk, I do not feel like that whatsoever. My colleagues have always involved me in all of the day-to-day activities, guiding me and encouraging me along the way. I feel really close to all of my colleagues and I feel that we have built a good rapport.

In a difficult year for everyone, what are your initial impressions of the company?

It is certainly a company that is constantly at work. There are numerous projects that are emerging now. The phone rings all the time and by contacts that are stationed around the world. I can say that I am lucky enough to work in a high-growth company, operating in markets with opportunities for professional development and in a field where there is still a lot to explore.
